At the meeting of the Hibernian Society last Thursday, Mr. Michael Fogarty tendeied his resignation as secretary, and Mr. Joseph Tymons was elected unanimously in his stead. A vote of congratulation to -the retiring secretary, on the ocoa-sion of his approaching marriage, was earned with acclamation. The election for the Grey seat in the House of Representatives promises to provide a -\ery keen contest. Mr. Joseph Pe-trie. opposes the present member, Mr. A. R. Guinness. In answer to a question at his meeting at Kokiri last week, Mr. Petrie said ho would vote against Bible reading in State schools, arrd w-as opposed to a referendum on the question The return euchre tournament between the Trinity ajnd St. Uolumlba Chubs was Qicld in the Trimly Hall last Monday, when the St. Columba Club was the winner. During the evening refreshments were handed round by the Trinity Club, and songs were given by Messrs. Sweetman and Koddie, and a recitation by Mr. P. Smyth. At the close of the entertainment Mr. L. J. Brooks, on behalf of the St. Columba Club, returned thanks for the pleasant evening.
