On CMober 2fl, a very •popiular wedding took pla.ee at St. Patrick's Church, Palmerston North, Mr Matthew ,1 Kennedy, the local gasworks manager, eldest son of .Air. James Kennedy, of Greymouth, bein^ inited m the bands of Matrimony to Miss Mary Herring, eldest daughter of tfrie late Mr. Frederick Herring, of Kair?ngia. The ceremony (says the ' Standard '), was performed by tfie Rev. Dr. Kennedy, of Akaroa (brother of the bridegroom), assisted by the Rev. Fathers Tyrmons, Bowdcn, anid O'Mana, and was followed by a Nuptial Mass. As the party left the church the weeding mianh w<as played by Mr. TomrK The bride was given away by her brother, 6Mr. Fred Herrmg, and wore a pretty dress of white duchess satin, beautifully trimmed, and looked extremely pretty. She also carried a slower bouquet of roses and mai'dem hair feita, the gift of the bridegroom. The briidenmaids were Miss Maggie Kennedy (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss May Fitzpatrick, Tasmania (cousin of the bride), who wore beautiful dresses of white silk, elaborately trimmed with chiffon, and carried shower bouquetc with yellow streamers. The little train-bearers received 'very pretty initial brooches. The best man and groomsman also received gold tic pins. In addition tp the many valuable presents received from the lelations and friends of tihe bri'ete and brildcgiroom throMgih'o.ut iihe Colony \veVe a sot of entree dishes, prescntod by the directors of the Gas Company, also a beautiful marble clock and a pair of silver ornaents iiom the employees of the iGas Company, a of beautiful annchaus from the bridgroom's father, awd a massive gold albeit Irom tone biidogroom's mother. Amongst those present at the ceremony were Mr. Kennedy (father of the bridegroom), Mr. W. T. Wood, M..H.R., ,a/hd Mrs. Wopd, and Mrs. Dr. Morjce, sen., of Gireymouth. The bride's travelling dress was a grey canvas voile costume, and a silver grey QhifLotn hat. Ihe happy couple left by the afternoon train for Wan-gataui en 'route for Rotorua, where the honeymoon is to be sjpont. They have the best wishe\s of the community for their future happiness. A large number of friends were entertained by the bride's miother ,at) the wedding breakfast and also in the evening.
