OBITUARY
MR. E. T. McNAMARA. ' (From owr Chiisttchurch eocresipondent.) It is my sad duty to record the deatji of Wr. E. T. MciNamara, a member of the Pra-Cathediral choir. Whilst) singing a solo in the Pro-Catihedral he was taken* suddenly ill, and was renwyved to his hjornie, where he passed away after a slhort illness, having received the last Sacraments from the Rev. Father McDomnell. At a RetjAiiem Mass for tihe repose of his sioul in the ProCatliedxal the Rev. Fatiiier O'Connell referred to the mjany virtues ol the deceased, who would be sadly massed "by his many frienlds. At the comcluston of tne Mass his Lordship the Bishop gave the abwolfcition, and afterwards paid a touching tribute to llhe late Mr. McNamara. The deceased, he said, had been a good citu/en and a good Catihohc, and while his deiath would bo deeply lamented it was consoling to Unnk that his lr.Ut pu.blic p^t had ■btcen the singjen'g of G>od'& prajises in tihe ch'urdi. The funeral was largely attended, the 11.A.C.8. Society, Catholic Club, rihoirs of the ProCat hedial and St. Mary's, and Orpheus Society being well re.pre.sentod. The interment was in tihe Lhnwoiod Cemeteiy, the Rev. Fat/her O'Donnell, assisted by the Roy. Father O'Connell, olliciatirug at the gra/veside. The late Mr. JMcNanuvia waa the sole Support, ol hte aged mother and yomg sisiter. He was only in New Zeahind about two years, having come fiom Tasmania.
