We held our weekly auction sale of grain and produce at our store on Monday, when we submitted a moderate catalogue to a large attendance of buyers. Values ruled as under :—: —
Oats. — There has been ready sale for all good to prime feed lines for immediate delivery, but for forward delivery there is not the same inquiry. Prime milling (chiefly Sutherlands) have been in request, but in the absence of steady supplies sales have been restricted. , Quotations : Prime milling, Is 9d to Is lOd ; good to best feed, Is 8d to Is Bsd ; medium, Is 6d to Is 7d per bushel ( sacks extra). Wheat.— ln milling quality, the demand is being supplied largely with northern wheat, a large proportion of ,the southern wheat being more or less out of condition. Fowl wheat is offering more freely, but commands good sale. Quotations : Prime milling, 4s 2d to 4s 3d : medium, 4s to 4s Id ; best whole fowl wheat, 3s lid to 4s ; broken and damaged, 3s 6d to 3d 9d per bushel .sacks extra). Potatoes. — Supplies have been coming forward sparingly, and values have firmed somewhat in consequence. Quotations : Best sorts, £3 10s to £4 ; others, £2 15s to £3 5s per ton (bags in). Chaff— Prime oaten sheaf is in good demand, and commands ready sale at quotations, but medium quality is out of favor and difficult to quit. Quotations : Best oaten sheaf, £3 10s to £3 15s ; good, £3 to £3 5s ; inferior and medium, £2 to £3 per ton (bags extra).
