DUNEDIN WOOL SALES.
The third wool sale of the present season was held on Thuw day, when 7856 bales were submitted, as against 8945 for the corresponding sale of last year. There was a large attendance of local nnd foreign buyers, but the bidding was without animation. In comparison with the previous sale it may be said that values had receded by jd, and in some instances $d per Ib. This was no doubt due to the reports received from London during the week. As it is the local prices compare very favorably with those prevailing in London and at the Sydney and Melbourne sales. Values may be quoted as follows :— Greasy halfbred— Superior, 8d to Bfd ; good, 7d to 7|d ; medium, r,|d to 6Jd ; inferior, 5d to 5Jd. Greasy merinoSuperior, 8d to 9Jd ; good, 7d to 7£d ; medium, 6d to 6£d ; inferior, 5Jd to r>sd. Greasy crossbred— Superior, 6Jd to 7Jd ; good, 6d to 6jd ; medium, 5d to sjd ; inferior, 4^d to 4}d. Greasy longwools— Superior, :>jd to 6^d ; good, sjd to 5Jd ; medium, 4}d to 5d ; inferior, 4d to 4Jd.
