Sir,-The letter from "Accountant" (October 25) in which he says he kept off The Listener while it was serialising Aunt Daisy, and that the feature was "continued ad nauseum in the interests apparently of radio advertising," strengthens my suspicion that accountants are apt to be a dry-minded lot. Too much occupation with figures freezes the genial current of their souls. There is a very simple explanation for the running of the Aunt Daisy chapters. Being competent journalists The Listener people know a good human story when they see one. I never listen to radio advertising, but I greatly enjoyed Aunt Daisy. I hope The Listener will find more such engaging narratives. The gentleman from Auckland can allow his attention to wander.
