THE MUSICAL CLIMATE
Sir,-I should be glad if Mr L. D. Austin’s proposed anti-jazz campaign were a success. Once jazz is purged from our country; once it is declared a dangerous and illicit drug; then will our very bored teen-agers congregate in mystic catacombs and attend to this pernicious noise with reverently raised eyebrows-imbibing, meanwhile, nonfluoridated water. : In this only will teen-agers find the high adventure they most ardently seek; in this only -will they find relief from the intolerable tedium of the life where the only music else would be the simpering and septic ecstasies which are to the taste of Mr Austin and others suffering the pains of qa Victorian hangover.
