No. 709, 1892.—Petition of Aeihi te Nahu and 7 Others. Petitioners pray for a rehearing in the matter of the Waimarama, Waipuka, and Okaihau Blocks, Hawke's Bay District. 1 have the honour to report that, seeing that the petitioners did not conform with the Act within the specified time, the Committee has no recommendation to make with regard to this petition. No. 409, 1892.—Petition of Eemana Nutana. Petitionees allege that, owing to the original Crown grant for lands in the Karamu Parish having been cancelled, and a new one issued in lieu thereof, they have lost their land, and they now pray for relief. 1 have the honour to report that the Committee is of opinion that some irregularity has taken place in connection with the matter referred to. Consequently they recommend the petition be referred to the Government for the purpose of having immediate and searching inquiry made. 2nd August, 1893. No. 45.—Petition of Hemi Paeaea. Petitioner complains that a Mr. White has taken possession of certain lands, known as Taemaro and Whakaangi, in a wrongful manner. 1 have the honour to report that the Petitions Committee is of opinion that the petition should be referred to the Government, with the recommendation that Mr. Clendon, Eesident Magistrate of the district, should be appointed to investigate the matter referred to, with a view to having the question settled. 2nd August, 1893.
