ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Thursday, the 14th Day op July, 1938. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all Bills or other matters relating to labour which may be referred to it: the Committee to consist of Mr. Barrell, Mr. Campbell, Mr. Chapman, Mr. Coleman, the Hon. Mr. Hamilton, Mr. Holland, Mr. McKeen, Mr. Neilson, Mr. Poison, and the Mover."—(Hon. Mr. Armstrong.) Friday, the 15th Day or July, 1938. Ordered, " That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1937-38 be again referred to the same Committees as they were referred to during the said session."—(Right Hon. Mr. Savage.)
REPORTS. No. 154/1937-38. —Petition of C. F. Leathem. Praying for a further compassionate allowance in respect of an accident sustained while employed by the Public Works Department. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 12th September, 1938.
No. 181/1937-38. —Petition of D. Kennedy. Praying for an ex gratia payment of £1,500 for injuries sustained while in the employ of the Public Works Department. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 12th September, 1938.
No. 1. —Petition of W. A. Ashworth. Praying for relief in respect of an injury sustained while employed by the Public Works Department. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 12th September, 1938. R. McKeen, Chairman.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that at its final meeting the Labour Bills Committee passed the following resolution : " That the members of this Committee desire to record their appreciation of the ability and courtesy shown by the Chairman, Mr. R. McKeen, whilst presiding over the business of the Committee, and directs that this resolution be reported to the House." P. Neilson, Member of the Committee. 13th September, 1938.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that at its final meeting the Labour Bills Committee passed the following resolution : " That the Committee place on record its appreciation of the efficient manner in which the Clerk, Mr. R. L. Cross, has carried out his duties during the session, and directs that this resoluton be reported to the House." 13th September, 1938.
Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee has held three meetings during the session, with an average attendance at each meeting of five members. Three petitions have been considered by the Committee and reported upon to the House, and the hearing of one petition has been held over until the next session of Parliament. R. McKeen, Chairman. 13th September, 1938.
