ORDERS OP REFERENCE.
Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Tuesday the 10th Day op July, 1934. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters pertaining to agricultural and pastoral industries and stock which may be referred to it; with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee which may be appointed by the Legislative Council, and to agree to a joint or separate report: the Committee to consist of Mr. Burnett, Mr. Coleman, Mr. Kyle, Mr. Langstone, Mr. Lye, Mr. W. W. Massey, Mr. Poison, Mr. Reid, Mr. Savage, and the Mover." —(Hon. Mr. Macmillan.) Thursday, the 26th Lay of July, 1934. Ordered, " That all petitions referred to the Public Petitions A to L (Supplementary) Committee and the Public Petitions M to Z (Supplementary) Committee during the session of 1933, and hot finally dealt with, be referred to the Public Petitions A to L and M to Z Committees respectively, and all other petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1933 be again referred to the same Committees as they were referred to during the said session." —(Right. Hon. Mr. Forbes.) Tuesday, the 31st Day of July, 1934. Ordered, " That the Scientific and Industrial Research Amendment Bill be referred to the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee." —(Right Hon. Mr. Forbes.) Thursday, the 16th Day of August, 1934. Ordered, " That the Slaughtering and Inspection Amendment Bill be referred to the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee." —(Hon. Mr. Macmillan.) Wednesday, the sth Day of September, 1934. Ordered, " That the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee have leave to sit during the present sitting of the House." —(Mr. Kyle.) Wednesday, the 19th Day of September, 1934. Ordered, " That the petition of Sir William Perry and others be referred direct to the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee." —(Mr. Linklater.) Wednesday, the 24th Day of October, 1934. Ordered, " That the Noxious Weeds Amendment Bill be referred to the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee."— (Hon. Mr. Maomillan.)

REPORTS.
Slaughtering and Inspection Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee has carefully considered the above Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed with the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill annexed hereto. 27th September, 1934.
Scientific and Industrial Research Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee has carefully considered the Scientific and Industrial Research Amendment Bill and the evidence submitted thereon, and, being of opinion that before any legislation is enacted to enforce any particular scheme of wool-improvement a poll should be taken of those interested in the production of wool, recommends that the Bill be not allowed to proceed. 3rd October, 1934.
Noxious Weeds Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee has carefully considered the above Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed with the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill annexed hereto. 31st October, 1934.
No. 221,—Petition of Sir William Perry, and 4 Others, of Masterton. Praying that the embargo against live-stock coming direct from Britain to New Zealand be lifted. I have the honour to report that, in view of the stringent quarantine regulations now in operation, both in England and New Zealand, and as a result of the evidence submitted, the Committee is of the opinion that the prayer of the petitioners should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. Ist November, 1934.
Pinal Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee, consisting of ten members, has held seventeen meetings during the session, and that the average attendance of members has been seven. Three Bills were referred to the Committee for consideration, all of which have been reported on to the House. One petition was referred to the Committee, duly considered, and reported on .to the House. 29th March, 1935. H. S. S. Kyle, Chairman.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee wishes to express its great appreciation of the tact, courtesy, and ability with which the Chairman, Mr. Kyle, has presided over the business of the Committee during this session. It also desires that this resolution shall be recorded m the minutes of the Committee and be reported to the House. 29th March, 1935. T. D. Burnett, Member of the Committee.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee desires to express its appreciation of the ability and courtesy with which the Clerk, Mr. E. B. Harman, has performed his duties during the session. It further desires that this resolution shall be recorded in the minutes of the Committee and be reported to the House. 29th March, 1935. H. S. S.
