Ordered, " That a return be procured by the Government from the Railway Commissioners, and laid before this House at an early date, giving the total number of employes on the New Zealand railways of all grades—(l) on the Ist January, 1889, (2) on the 31st May, 1890; the return to show also separately the number of employes of each year of age up to the age of twenty-one on the above dates respectively."—(Mr. W.
