CHEESE MANUFACTURE
NO COLOURED TO BE MADE (By Telegraph.—Press Association* WELLINGTON, Thursday No coloured cheese will be manufactured in New Zealand after Saturday, either for export purposes or the local market, until the present state of emergency ceases. The neces sary authority for the change is contained in the Cheese Manufacturing Restriction Order, 1941, gazetted tonight. For some time past the United Kingdom has been taking only white cheese from New Zealand and the order has been brought down to obtain uniformity in manufacture as a war measure. Colouration in cheese adds nothing to its food value and it is felt that the quantity of coloured cheese manufactured for the local market was so small that it did not warrant continuation. Moreover, if uniformity is achieved it is hoped it may result in more cheese being sent overseas.
