OFFICIAL OPENING
TIRAU TENNIS CLUB The official opening of the Tirau Tennis Club took place recently, when there was a large attendance of players and visitors. Mr S. J. Bear, wno is retiring after 1U years as president, tnanked members for their support and wished the club and officials every success in the future. He then declared the courts open and asked Mrs W. F. Goodwin to play the first ball. Mr A. Gray, the new president, paid tribute to the work of Mr Bear. Mr T. Mac- i ken. president of the Waikato East , Sub-association, spoke during the ! afternoon. A presentation was made to Mr and Mrs K. Otto, in recognition of j their services as joint secretaries. \ Mrs L. Butler and J. Gray were the j winners of the tournament. Among those present were:—Mes- j dames H. Wine, Collier, Brownlie, W. Goodwin, E. Gubb, Otto, Butler, T. Macken, Johnston. Misses L. Strong, V. Gubb, M. 1 Carruth, R. Strong. S. Wilson, ' B. Goodwin, E. Mays, M. Stewart. j
