SPRINGDALE BRANCH

WOMEN’S AUXILIARY MEETS Mrs J. Burgess presided over a large attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Springdale Women’s Auxiliary held in the local hall recently. Invitations were received from the Te Aroha branch and the Waitoa Methodist Ladies’ Guild to attend garden parties to be held at the residences of Mesdames J. E. Wild and F. Brown respectively. It was decided to send a letter of sympathy to Mrs B. Readhead in her recent bereavement. Members stood in silence in respect for the late Mr W. Readhead. Mrs Burgess welcomed several visitors from other districts after which she introduced Sister Vera, a medical missionary from the Solomon Islands. Sister Vera addressed the gathering and illustrated her address with postcards and a large-scale map of Choiseul Island, at which she is stationed. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames B. Johansen and H. Coombe.
