Payment For Councillors
A remit submitted by the Christchurch City Council requesting the Government to amend the Municipal Corporations Act to provide for the payment of fixed allowances to members of city and borough councils, or to compensate them for loss of remunerative employment while on council business, was defeated by a large majority at the conference of f.ne Municipal Association of New Zealand m Auckland yesterday.
