Griffiths has ; been appointed A.D.C. to General EL C. Freyberg, V.C., officer commanding the New Zealand Expeditionary ! Force in the Middle East. Lieutenant Griffiths left New Zea- ; land as a private and was promoted ! to non-commissioned officer rank in ; Egypt. He gained his commission j alter a course with an officers cadet i training unit. He is widely known as a Wellington and New Zealand Rugby football representative and he has piaved a conspicuous part in the ! game since he has been in the army. ! He is a son of Mrs A. J. Griffiths, j <>f Khandallah. and the late Mr A. J. ' Griffiths, who was a well known j Rugby administrator. As a member of the Bank of New J Zealand staff. Lieutenant Griffiths j reived in Wellington until transferred j a. few years ago to Wanganui, and later to the East Coast.
