GALA DAY
FOR CAMBRIDGE QUEEN A most successful gala day and floral fete, organised by the Leamington. Pukerimu - Monavale subcommittee of the Patriotic Queen Carnival, was held in the Leamington Domain to augment the funds of the Cambridge Queen. The various stalls did a brisk business during the afternoon, and the games and competitions were well patronised. Those in charge of the stalls were as follows:—Cakes, Mesdames H. P. Nelson, R. S. Hanna, and Miss A. Townsend; produce, Mesdames F. Vosper, M. A. Bell, and Willoughby Horne; fancy stall, Mesdames F. St. John, F. Edwards, and St. John; tea rooms, Mesdames D. M. Bourke, J. Blackman, Roy Fisher, Dray, W. 'Johnson, G. Cleland, D. Walker, I. Johnston, and W. T. Treadgold; [sweets, Misses Phyllis Garland, Loma Walker, Phyllis Nelson, and Heather Taylor. Mrs J. W. Garland, I Mrs H. Goodwin, and Mrs R. I£ewI land organised the games. | A baby show was held, the first ; prize in the three months to nine | -months class being won by Russel ) Adai.-xson and Bruce Cochran (equal), j Jenniit* Peterson was successful in i the nine mvn,.ii 15 months, and ; Margaret England 18 months to 2. 1 years. The judges of the vehicles were Mesdames H. L. Nixon, A. H. Nicoll, lan Smith, A. A. Lockett, and Miss G. L. Brann. Miss Waite judged the baby show and Mrs G. Watt the cakes.
