STAFF AND EQUIPMENT EFFICIENT SERVICE BUILT (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON. Saturday The response to appeals for books and magazines and the splendid assistance given by the returned soldiers’ associations has enabled the State Country Library Service, in association with the Library Association, to build up an efficient war library service for the forces here and overseas. Up to October 9, 56.063 books and 56.527 periodicals had been issued to naval, military and i air force units. Mr G. T. Alley. Director of the i Country Library Service, states that j properly staffed libraries established j at the main military camps are not . only able to provide lending facilities j but also able to deal with requests i for special books. An extraordinary j number of requests has been re- 1 ceivecl for useful books, among them j books dealing with military sub- ; jects, recreation and hygiene.
