PRESENTATION DANCE
NGARUAWAHIA RUGBY LEAGUE Always a popular function, the closing of the season dance of the Ngaruawahia Rugby League Club, held in the Town Hall on Thursday evening, proved to be no exception. The hall was attractively arranged with bowls of spring flowers, nikau palms, and streamers of black and white, the club colours. The supper tables were gay with tall vases of Iceland poppies and pieces of smilax. Music was supplied by Mr Menzies’ orchestra, and the master of ceremonies was Mr A. Robinson. A euchre tournament run in conjunction with the dance was won by j Mrs Hilton, Mrs Sellars, Mr L. Sewell, Mr F. Mills and Mrs O’Callaghan. Novelty waltzes were won by Mr Brooks and partner, Miss Cairns and partner, and Miss E. Stubbing and partner. During the evening opportunity was taken by the secretary of the South Auckland Rugby League, Mr W. Davis, to present the following trophies won during the season:— Taylor Memorial Cup, St. Paul’s Old Boys; Aubrey Shield, Ngaruawahia Public School Boys; Wells Memorial Cup, Ngaruawahia senior team (second year in succession); Colt Cup, Ngaruawahia third grade team.
