DISTRESS FUND DONATIONS IN HAMILTON OVER £ISOO IN HAND With over £ISOO in hand, the fund which was opened by the Waikato Times for the relief of distress in London will be closed on Monday. During the time the fund has been in existence many people have taken advantage of the opportunity to show their appreciation of the fine spirit that has prevailed in London in the face of the terrorism let loose by the German war machine. Donations have come forward steadily. Perhaps no greater object lesson in moral strength could be given than the spirit in which Londoners have faced the terrors inflicted upon them in the last two months. With many of their homes and dreams tumbling about them, they have won the admiration of all peace-lQving peoples by the manner in which they have decided to carry on until peace reigns cnce more. In appreciation of this fine spirit funds such as that opened by the Waikato Times have been conducted in many parts of the Empire, and the Lord Mayor of London’s fund has benefited considerably as a result. The following donations are acknowledged for the Waikato Times fund:—
