R. H. Gla-dlnp was successful in tlie event with a total of 8 up. his last card being i up and his medal round 7t. Nearest to him waA. f. small with a total of i up. lie also returning a card of 1 up In the second round. At Lochiei the final or the intermediate championship was played between \v Scarfe and F. Cramp. Cramp played r very good round In the morning or 81 which was four stroke* below his handicap. Scarfe did not play too well and was 9 down at the end of the morning round: he recovered a bit in tlie afternoon and won the 2nd. 3rd and 4th. However, Cramp asserted himself and had wor the Three holes back again bv the loth winning the game here bv 9 and 8. Cramp has had quite a .successful season, piayitv. good goLr throughout. His only’ fault In hi* swing Is that he holds his weight back or, long on his right root when hitting Hrme-'cr. to adjust this would upset hi? timing ror a while. Go If for Patriotic Purposes .. Henry Cotton’s effort In raising fund* lor the Red Cross in England was very meritorious, he ju*t Tailing to reach Ihr 2.10,000 mark by £IOO. Cotton by this time will probably be serving in tho'Royai Air Force, and we trust that he will nave the good fortune to enhance ids record or the golf course ait a laier date. At the present moment the first overture has been made l'or a game between Gladlng and Hornibrook. it is to be hoped tun soinrcbing may come of this as it would arouse a,q only local interest but interes* throughout New Zealand.
