SOCIAL AFTERNOON

HAPPY GATHERING The nursing division of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union will benefit by about £l3 as the result of a social afternoon held recently at the home of Mrs J. Baker, in conjunction with the Tatuanui branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. The weather was perfect and about one hundred members and friends of the surrounding branches and institutes gathered to enjoy a pleasant afternoon. During the afternoon Mrs Mor-gan-Davies addressed the gathering and spoke of the commencement of the nursing classes in Morrinsville, and the possibilities of the nursing division in the near future. Miss Avis Frampton presented Mrs Davies with a lovely bouquet. The results of the competitions were as follows:—Clock golf, Mrs J. Hepburn; croquet, Mrs A. J. Graham and Miss S. Paterson; names of flowers and shrubs, Mrs R. Bell. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames J. Baker, A. Fagg, G. Furniss, L. Stockbridge, M. Warner and Miss J. Baker. The function was continued in the evening with games, competitions and community singing, Mrs Ritcher, at the piano, leading the singing. Vocal items were given by Mrs G. Furniss and Mr R. Stewart.

A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr and Mrs J. Baker for their hospitality.
