PETER PAN’S LETTER
J)EAR GIRLS AND BOYS, Such a gay old world this one of ours is at present, with its wealth of golden, blue and green, and its store of surprises that Peter and the Circle People feel quite sure that there are lots of little Fairy folk at work trying to make the flower folk appear brighter and gayer than ever in these days of trouble. As Peter writes this letter to you all the golden sunbeams are skipping over the windowsill and are playing amongst the Sunshine Girl’s curls, which the Wind Elves have already ruffled. On the Wendy Person’s desk stands a deep blue howl of golden daffodils which are swaying to and fro as though dancing to some hidden elfin music. The Circle People love to spend a few hours in their gardens now that the evenings are drawing out and after the day’s work is finished they seem to find there the rest and quietness which is so soothing after the hustle and bustle of the busy streets.
The Wendy Person and Peter are having their garden strolls again for the days are so short and the minutes far too precious to lose. And such lovely sights they have seen lately too for there are so many many beautiful things that Mother Nature and her fairy folk have scattered about for us to find if we only have the eyes to see. The other morning there were the green lawns and hedges glistening with fairy jewels and everywhere were hung fragile cobwebs which glistened with silver diamonds and danced in a slight breeze. The Windy Person felt so sad when she remembered that those sparkling jewels would soon be lost, for when Mr Sun rose in all his glory their silver brilliance was gone. And now lots of love to you all with hopes for jolly sunshiny days and garden treasures of your own. From yours,
