MATANGI NEWS

WOMEN’S MISSIONARY UNION The monthly meeting of the Waikato East Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union was held recently in the church hall, Matangi. In the absence of the president, Mrs French, Miss M. Sattrup presided over a large attendance of members. The meeting opened with the devotional period, Mrs J. Shaw reading the Scripture lesson. A report on the P.A. meeting held in Hamilton recently, was discussed. Miss L. Ringer read an interesting paper on the medical work of the missionaries in India. A sales table conducted by Mrs J. Shaw did good business. At the conclusion of the meeting, a social hour followed, at which the ladies entertained the church managers to sunper. The hostesses were Mrs Cargill and Mrs Burnett. Those present were: Mesdames Norrill, Burnett, Marychurch, 'iuiner, T. Shaw, Hillary, Hicks, Sattrup, Cargill. J. Shaw, T. Robinson, Bern, A. Middlemiss. Misses M. Sattrup, L. Ringer, M. Burnett, M. Shaw. CARD EVENING The Matangi Ladies’ Croquet Club, held the last of a series of card evenings m the hall recently. There was a large attendance which spent a very enjoyable time playing progressive five hundred. The winners were Mrs Inwood and Mr Jack McClennan. The competi- , tion was won by Mr Fred Haines,
