JUNIOR CIRCLE

WAIKATO LYCEUM CLUB A happy evening was spent by members of the Waikato Lyceum Club and their friends on Thursday when they were entertained by the Junior Circle. An enjoyable and varied programme was presented and was thoroughly appreciated by those present. During the evening articles donated by the juniQrs were auctioned with much success, the proceeds being given to the president’s emergency war fund. The first item on the programme was a pianoforte solo by Miss Sydney Strang, this being most enthustiacally received. Songs by Miss Marie Leech and duets by Misses Joan and Airini Sergei were charmingly rendered, and Miss Yvonne McLachlan’s cello solos, accompanied by her mother, were much enjoyed. A parade of “fashionable hats,” the commentator being Mrs F. Bullock, caused considerable amusement, and a novel item was provided by the filming of moving pictures by Mr S. N. Ziman. The Junior Circle are to be congratulated on the organisation of a very pleasant evening. In the absence of the president, Mrs Hugh Douglas, Mrs H. J. McMullin, received the guests, and at the conclusion of the evening thanked the convener, Miss Betty Pinfold, and those responsible for the entertainment. Mr? McMullin was wearing a frock of cameo pink faille and a floral coatee.
