DINNER AND DANCE
MATAMATA OLD PUPILS The annual dinner held under the auspices of the Matamata Old Pupils’ Association proved an outstandingly successful function. That the popularity of the fixture has in no way diminished was shown by an attendance of approximately 90. Mr Noel Burke, president of the association, presided, and associated with him were Mr P. Hawke, Miss Betty Whitworth. Mr D. Hunt, Miss D. Chilton, Mr S. Duxfield, Miss C. Mclntyre, Miss B. Cameron, Mr E. Williams, Miss H. Chilton. Mr F. Burke and Mr and Mrs McG. Simpson. An enjoyable dance was held at the conclusion of the dinner. Orchestral music was supplied, and Mr N. Burke was an efficient master of ceremonies. During the course of the evening much appreciated items were given by Miss Nessie Pennell (songs), Miss N. Jagger (songs), and Masters Kirk and Shanaghan (humorous dialogue). Whitworth, fuchsia taffeta; Miss H. Chilton, mauve taffeta; Miss B. Cameron, ivory georgette. Mesdames G. Sutherland, old gold taffeta; R. Waugh (Okoroire), black panne velvet; J. Melville (Walton), Burgundy reverre; G. Fitzgerald, black crepe invicta: N. Pond, pink and black romaine; K. Fitzgerald, cyclamen taffeta; R. Schwarz, forest green crepe craquelle. Misses Noeline Hirst, leaf green chepe-de-chine; Hazel Latham, tartan taffeta; Thelma Chilton, cyclamen lame; Pat Simpson, crimso;i, silk velvet; Ne-ssie iPenrjelk blaLk and red taffeta; May Jagger, clover ripple georgette; Joan McCarthy, white floral satin; Grace Kennedy, alpine blue net; Nell Jagger, lobelia marquisette; Mollie Cole. black panne velvet; Nancy Fetch, ivory embossed taffeta; Florrie Stanley, black chiffon; N.
