MINERS OUT AGAIN
GLEN AFTON COLLIERIES LAST WEEK’S DISPUTE PAYMENT FOR WET TIME (Special to Times) HUNTLY, Thursday With one man’s claim for wet time as the bone of contention, the dispute which opened at the MacDonald section of Glen Afton Collieries on Tuesday of last week was revived yesterday morning when 200 miners decided to cease work until the claim was determined. The men worked for an hour and then returned to their homes. No work was done at the mine to-day. The miners of the Glen Afton section also ceased work to-day. Ceasing work on Tuesday of last week the men remained idle on Wednesday and Thursday, returning to the mine on Friday and again on Monday and Tuesday of this week It is understood that at a meeting yesterday the men received a report from the disputes committee and then ceased work as a result. The executive of the Northern Miners’ Union held a meeting last night to discuss the situation, but it was announced that no finality had been reached. A further meeting with the men is scheduled to take place at the MacDonald mine this afternoon.
