CIVIC PRAYER

OPEN AIR SERVICE HAMILTON OBSERVANCE MILITARY PARADE ON SUNDAY In response to the request made by His Majesty the King that Sunday next should be observed throughout the Empire as a day of national prayer, a special intercessory service will be held at Seddon Park, Hamilton, on Sunday afternoon. The service will be held at 2.30 p.m., and all territorial and cadet units' and members of the National Military Reserve will parade. The Rev. V. A. Bianchi will be chairman and an address will be given by the Rev. H. G. Gilbert. The Salvation Army Band will play the hymn music.

Prior to the service a military parade will be held. Lieutenant-Colonel K. B. Tennent, M.M., will command the parade with Captain F. B. McWhannell, M.C., as adjutant. Sergeant R. A. Thomas will be parade Sergeant-Major while the staff at Seddon Park will include Sergeants A. R. Bruce, D. I. Gate, and W. Johnston. Service dress will be worn, with Class II of the National Military Reserve and other returned soldiers wearing decorations and medals. Order of the Parade Units parading will form up in Knox Street and move on to markers at 1.45 p.m., one marker from each unit having been instructed to report to the parade Sergeant-Major five minutes earlier. The order of the march from Knox Street, along Victoria Street and to the park by way of London Street will be as follows: Waikato Regimental Band, National Military Reserve and returned soldiers, Hamilton Citizens’ Band, Waikato Mounted Rifles, 7th Medium Battery, New Zealand Artillery (headquarters, Auckland and Hamilton troops), Ist Battalion of the 16th Waikato Regiment, cadet units, Hamilton Pipe Band and auxiliary units.

In the event of wet weather, the fire siren will be sounded at 1 p.m. and the parade will move to Bledisloe Hall, where the service will be held. After the service the Emits will march to Knox Street for dismissal. On the return march a salute will be taken at the Hamilton Public Library by Lieutenant-Colonel Tennent.
