NEW TEST NOT REQUIRED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday A decision to suspend the regulation requiring motor-car drivers whose licenses had lapsed for more than three months to undergo a practical driving test before being granted a new license was announced by the Minister of Transport, the Hon. R. Semple, tonight. The Minister said it had been pointed out that, because of the petrol restrictions, an unusually large number of persons had not taken out new licenses. Furthermore, the war has made such inroads into the ranks of traffic inspectors that adequate testing of all applicants would be impossible.
