Copyrlg-ht) (Received Sept. 2, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 1 The Times says that four Turkish citizens, including the Berlin correspondent of several Turkish newspapers, were arrested rn Berlin and taken handcuffed to the police headquarters. It is a reprisal for the arrest at Istanbul of a German bookseller, •who allegedly was taken, handcuffed to a negro to the police station, charged with selling copies of the Volkischer Beobachter containing anti-Turkish cartoons.
WILL DIE FIGHTING DETERMINATION OF PEASANTS DEMONSTRATIONS IN RUMANIA “YOU KNOW MY VOICE" (United Pre-ss Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 2, 3.15 p.m.) BUCHAREST, Sept. 1 Police reinforcements were rushed to Transylvania last night to prevent further demonstrations against the cession of territory. Peasants are reported to have occupied the trenches which the Rumanian forces evacuated and have sworn to die fighting rather than yield up territory to Hungary. Transylvanians heard a broadcast in Rumanian from London, beginning: “Brothers, you know my voice.” Listeners recognised the voice as that of M. Tilea, ex-Rumanian Minister in London. Many afterwards demonstrated in village squares. The Bucharest correspondent of the British United Press says that troops are patrolling the capital to prevent demonstrations.
Reports from Cluj declare that troops who were dispatched in order to break up demonstrations joined the crowds in protesting against the Vienna award.
NOTICE TO SOVIET UNDER GERMAN INFLUENCE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, September 1 It is reliably stated, says the British United Press correspondent at Sofia, Bulgaria, that Rumania has agreed to surrender Southern Dobruja to Bulgaria, which will probably occupy it simultaneously with Hungary’s occupation of Transylvania. Reuter’s correspondent at Bucharest says it is unofficially but reliably reported that the Italian and German Ambassadors to Moscow are visiting M. Molotoff, Soviet Premier and Foreign Commissar, to hand over a formal declaration that Rumania lies within the German, not the'Russian, sphere of economic interest. AGREEMENT REACHED GERMANY AND RUSSIA REGULATION OF FRONTIER (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 2, 3.15 p.m.) BERLIN, Sept. 1 The radio announced that Russia and Germany, after a month’s negotiations, have reached an agreement for regulating legal questions concerning the Russian-German frontier. ROME, Sept. 1 The radio stated that the demobilisation of the Hungarian Army will begin on September 2.
