BIG PARADE
CHURCH SERVICE PLANS IN HAMILTON One of the biggest Church parades ever to have been held in Hamilton is being planned for Sunday, September 8, the day on which services will be held throughout the Empire at the request of His Majesty the King. A day of national prayer has been commended in New Zealand by the Governor-General, Lord Galway. Arrangements are being made by the civic authorities and the Hamilton Ministers’ Association for a united church service at 2.30 on the Sunday afternoon. It is proposed that all available territorials, cadets, members of the National Reserve, reI turned soldiers, members of St. John I Ambulance Brigades, Red Cross ] V.A.D.’s, and members of the Women’s Auxilliary, should parade i at Knox Street at 2 p.m. and march jto the service, which is being I planned for Seddon Park if the weather is fine. The military authorities have agreed to act as marshals. Any organisation desiring i to co-operate in the parade is invited to make application. If the weather is unsuitable the fire siren will be sounded at 1 p.m. on .he Sunday and the service will I br /ield in the Bledisloe Hall.
