OBITUARY
MR A. J. FORREST The death has occurred at the age of 78 years of a well-known resident of Te Aroha, Mr Archibald James Forrest. Mr Forrest was born in Dunedin, but when he was very young his family moved to Cambridge. He was in his younger days a member of the Waikato Constabulary. After his marriage he went farming in the vicinity of the present Te Aroha West factory. There he resided until 1908, when he came to Te Aroha. A keen sportsman, Mr Forrest played football and cricket in his younger days and was for 20 years a steward of the Te Aroha Jockey Club, as well as being assistant starter for many years. He was noted for his ability in handling horses, and had trained many thoroughbreds. He was also a member of the Te Aroha Bowling Club. Mr Forrest is survived by his wife and eight children, Messrs S. V. Forrest, H. Forrest (Te Aroha), F. Forrest (Auckland); Mesdames A. E. Addis (Wellington), A. Danby (Thames), F. T. Halligan (Te Aroha), S. Masters (Paeroa) and L. Waters (Morrinsville). DIRS W. THOMPSON (Special to Times.) CAMBRIDGE, Friday The death has occurred of a wellknown Cambridge district resident, Mrs Ellen Thompson, wife of Mr William Thompson, of Bruntwood. Born in Opotiki, Mrs Thompson was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs T. Dawson. Mr and Mrs Thompson came to Cambridge in 1907, taking up a farm at Bruntwood. . Mrs Thompson was keenly interested in the affairs of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was also a great lover of flowers and an enthusiastic gardener. Mrs Thompson is survived by her husband and four children, Messrs A. Thompson, C. Thompson, Mrs R. Simpson and Miss J. Thompson, all of Cambridge. A son, Mr J. Thompson, lost his life in the Great War.
