MEN IN TURAKINA “DEAD OR PRISONERS” REFERENCE BY MINISTER (By Telegraph. —Special to Times) WESTPORT, Thursday Illustrating how close New Zealand was to the war zone, the Minister of National Service, the Hon. R. Semple, in an address to-night regarding the formation of the Home Guard, mentioned the attack on the Turakina not more than 300 miles from the Dominion, and the loss of another big passenger ship. He said it was not known whether the men in the Turakina were dead or prisoners of war.
