ONE MILLION DOLLARS
NEWSPAPER PROPRIETOR'S GIFT MONEY FOR AEROPLANES MR CHURCHILL’S GRATITUDE (omclal Wireless) (Received August 29, 3.15 p.m.) RUGBY, August 28 Mr Winston Churchill, in telegraphing acknowledgment to Mr McConnell, proprietor of the Montreal Star, for his gift of 1,000,000 dollars for increased consignments of aircraft from Canada, expressed admiration. Mr Churchill added: “The hardtried and enduring people of Britain know well that their brothers are numerous, powerful and true.” The aircraft will be known as “McConnell’s squadron.”
