TAUPIRI NOTES

FAREWELL AFTERNOON Many friends gathered at the residence of Mrs Allan Scott, Tenfoot, to bid farewell to Mrs T. Burns and Miss Elva Burns, who are leaving the district. The afternoon was spent in playing competitions, and items were given by Mrs A. Scott and Mrs H. Susted. Opportunity was taken by Mrs S. J. Stanley to present a crystal cake dish to Mrs Burns and a fruit bowl to Miss Elva Burns from their many friends in the district. Miss J. Henry presented the guests-of-honour with bouquets. Those present were:—Mesdames A. Scott, S. J. Stanley, D. Braddick, Hossick, R. Burrett, S. Sowerby, J. Williams, T. Gerrand, J. Alexander, E. R. Sutherland, F. J. Parsons, L. Barnard, H. Susted, F. R. Catley, H. Catley, D. Cooper, V. J. Farrington, W. Banner, J. Troup, Miss Jean Henry, Miss Helen Sutherland.

CARD AFTERNOON A very enjoyable card afternoon was recently held in the Red Cross Rooms, Taupiri. The hostesses, who served afternoon tea, were Mrs F. J. Farrell and Mrs S. J. Stanley. Those present were:—Mesdames D. Welch, O. Brooks, R. Taylor, F. J. Farrell, J. Stanley, G. Horwood, H. Riddell, Tremlett, W. McPherson, Hossick, J. Murphy, S. Grant, R. Burke, A. W. Buss, J. D. Bruce, A. L. Button, L. B. Wilson, D. Sowerby. Misses J. Henry and George.
