WEDDING

RADFORD—ANDREWS IVORY EMBOSSED SATIN A charming wedding was solemnised at St. Aidan’s Church, Remuera, Auckland, on Thursday, August 15, when Shirley Isabel, only daughter of Mr and Mrs C. H. Andrews, of Remuera, Auckland, was married to 2nd Lt. H. J. Radford, youngest son of Mr and Mrs H. A. Radford, of Forest Lake, Hamilton. The ceremony was performed by Canon R. L. Connolly. The church had been prettily arranged with white and gold spring flowers. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely gown of ivory embossed satin, cut on long slender lines, which flowed into a graceful train. The bodice, which was designed with a deep point at the back and the front, featured a tiny stand-up collar and was adorned with a row of small buttons from the neckline to the waist. The long tight-fitting sleeves tapered to points over the hands. A coronet of orange

blossom held in place her filmy veil of white tulle, and she carried a sheaf of white hyacinths and cyclamen.

The Bridesmaids

In attendance on the bride were Miss Margaret Mitchell, and Miss Connie Radford, sister of the bridegroom, who were in similar frocks of white satin-spotted organdi fashioned with bouffant circular skirts, high pointed corsages and short puffed sleeves. They wore top-knots of golden freesias, and carried bouquets of freesias, primroses and lachanalia in shades of gold and deep cream. The duties of best man were carried out by 2nd Lt. Stewart Kingston, and Sergeant Bruce Andrews, brother of the bride, was the grobmsman. The ushers at the church were Messrs G. and A. Andrews and G. F. Deighton. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, Woodley Avenue. Remuera, where the guests were received by Mrs Andrews, who was in an ensemble of black romaine and gold figured lame, worn with a black toque. Her posy was of red gladioli and blue irises. The mother of the bridegroom was wearing a green floral frock, a forest green coat and rust accessories. She carried a posy of sweet peas, and lupins in cyclamen shades. When 2nd Lt. and Mrs H. J. Radford left by car for the wedding trip, the bride travelled in a mist pink Angora frock, a matching hat and black accessories.
