TE UKU NEWS

FAREWELL TO SOLDIERS There was a large gathering at the Te Uku Memorial Hall, recently, to bid farewell to the district members of the third echelon, viz., Messrs Horace Moon, Dudley Cogswell, Don McLean and Arthur Carpenter. Dancing was enjoyed, the music being supplied by Pihama’s orchestra. Mr M. Mead acted as master of ceremonies.

After supper, Mr F. C. Johnstone, president of the Te Uku Patriotic Association, spoke highly of the guests-of-honour and presented each of them with a gift as a • token of good wishes. He wished them God speed and a safe return. Mr. McLean returned thanks on behalf of the men.
