SUCCESSFUL CONCERT
CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE A most successful concert was staged by members of the Catholic Women’s League in the Strand Theatre, Morrinsville, recently, to raise funds for the hall at the Papakura Camp. The theatre was filled to capacity by a most appreciative audience, and the members of the league are to be congratulated on the high standard of the performance. The items were as follows: —Character songs, Master Arthur Downs; one-act play, Mrs C. Garrick, Miss G. Philpott, and Miss Louie Strevens; songs, Mrs A. Fitzwilliam (Paeroa); elocutionary items, Miss Nancy Guinness (Tauranga); one-act play, Misses Evelyn Howard, Vera Nola x Wyn Nola, Elizabeth Strevens and Mrs T. Brodie; selections by the Catholic Women’s League Choir; one-act play, Mesdames H. Goonan, A. Buckley, and W. Glynn; pianoforte duets, Mrs A. Murdoch and Mrs Fitzwilliams. The producer of the plays was Mrs J. Bain.
At the conclusion of the programme Father O’Docherty thanked the artists and the audience for their help and outlined the purpose for which the concert had been arranged. Presentations of posies to the players brought a splendid evening to a close.
