BIRTHDAY PARTY

FOR MISS D. TUCK A delightful party in honour of birthday of their daughter, Dorothy, was given in the Oddfellows’ Hall. Ngaruawahia. by Mr and Mrs O. J. Tuck. The hall was attractively arranged with bowls of spring flowers, the supper tables prerenting a pretty picture with full vases of Iceland poppies. The evening was spent in dancing, music being supplied by Mrs F. Tarplett’s Orchestra. Mr A. Paterson was master of ceremonies. Items were given by Miss June Tarplett (tap dancing) and Mr Waters (songs). Mr R. Eyre proposed the toast of the guest-of-honour and Mr S. Paterson replied on her behalf. Miss Dorothy Tuck then cut her birthday cake, and musical honours were accorded her. Mrs O. J. Tuck received her guests wearing a smart gown of black cobweb lace over satin. Miss Dorothy Tuck wore a charming gown of deep cream parchment satin. Among those present were: — Mesdames H. Pickering, black lace and georgette; W. Cavanagh, coffee coloured taffeta; A. Paterson, black velvet; A. Cameron, floral georgette; K. M. Wright, petunia taffeta; T. Paterson, delphinium blue taffeta; Anderson, black satin and petunia relief; W. Eaddy, iris opalescent shaded taffeta; A. Small, rust lace; Waters, black lace and taffeta; K. Duxfield, Burgundy lace; C. E. Moir, ivory georgette over taffeta; F. Hall, black ring velvet; J. D. Joy, floral satin, H. B. Fraser, Duchess blue taffeta; A. Sutherland, gold satin; de Groen (Sydney), floral romaine; R. McFarLane, black chiffon velvet.

Wright, cyclamen net and quited taffeta; I. Thomson, claret patterned taffeta; M. Waters, forest green georgette and ivory velvet; Lomas, cyclamen shaded taffeta; E. McCrae, petunia ripple georgette; B. Keen (Te Kowhai), black sunray pleated georgette; M. Forrest, pink taffeta; M. Cavanagh, delphinium blue taffeta; B. Cavanagh, ivory spot net over taffeta; P. Smith, black taffeta patterned in rose; I. Gerrard, black Chantilly lace and georgette; P. Cubitt, ivory georgette.
