HAPPY DANCE

FOR OHAUPO SOLDIERS The Ohaupo patriotic committee held a farewell dance and presentation on Thursday, August 8, in honour of Gunner Youdan and Private McLeod, members of the third echelon. Several of the local members of the railway company, who had recently been farwelled, were also present. The Waitoa patriotic orchestra supplied the music, which was much appreciated. Between dances duets by Misses Irene and Lois Benton, and the Highland fling asid Sean Trubhuis by Miss Myrtle Forsyth, were much enjoyed. Mr Forsyth, chairman of the Ohaupo Patriotic Committee, wished the men God speed and a safe return and on behalf of the public .of Ohaupo, handed them useful gifts. Mr McWhannell, president of the local Returned Soldiers* Association, assured them of a warm welcome home by his association.
