SECONDLIEUTENANTS CADET TRAINING ENDS WAIKATO MEN INCLUDED (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) WELLINGTON, Tuesday A large number of troops from the Northern Military District who have been in training at the army school, Trentham, have “passed out” with the rank of second-lieutenant. PARADE IN CITY THIRD ECHELON TROOPS (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Monday Units of the Third Echelon, N.Z.E.F., in training at Papakura mobilisation camp, will be seen on parade in the Auckland Domain on Saturday morning, and there will be a march through the streets of the city. It is expected that the parade will be on the lines of the parades of the First and Second Echelons. A Minister of the Crown will probably be in Auckland to speak at the Domain, but the name of the Minister was not available today. The Mayor of Auckland, Sir Ernest Davis, will speak on behalf of the citizens. It is expected that Colonel N. W. McD. Weir, N.Z.S.C., officer commanding Northern Military District, will take the salute as the troops march past at the Town Hall. NURSING CHIEF SERVICE OVERSEAS MISS M. NUTSEY CHOSEN a*. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Tuesday Miss E. M. Nutsey, lady superintendent of the Auckland Hospital, has been appointed matron-in-chief of the New Zealand Army Nursing Service overseas, according to advice received by the Hospital Board last night from the Director-General of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt. Instructions from Army Headquarters, Dr. Watt said, were that Miss Nutsey’s services would be required as from the end of October. Miss Nutsey has been lady superintendent of the Auckland Hospital since 1928. Leaving the Dominion in 1915 with the first contingent of nurses for active service, she had four and a-half years’ service abroad. She was mentioned in despatches for bravery in Egypt in 1916, and was also awarded the decoration of Associate of the Royal Red Cross in England. She served as matron of the Stratford and Hawera Hospitals, following a period of two years in South Africa, before commencing at the Auckland Hospital in 1929. In 1937 the M.B.E. was conferred upon her in the Coronation Honours List. She is a member of the New Zealand Nurses and Midwives’ Registration Board.
