DROWNED IN RIVER
ATTEMPT TO SWIM ACROSS fßy Telegrapn.—r>ro>< Association) GISBORNE. Tuesday A middle-aged Maori, Mr Tuakane Wanoa. is believed to have been drowned in the Awatere River near Te Araroa last evening. Mr Wanoa was seen to enter the flooded river in an endeavourf to swim across to his home. He was heard to call out, and then disappeared. It is believed he was washed to sea, but so far a search has been unavailing,
