HUNTLY MEN FAREWELLED An enjoyable dance in honour of men of Huntly and district of the third echelon, who are on final leave, was held by the Huntly Patriotic Society in the Lyceum Theatre recently. The Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs W. C. E. George, were present and during the evening, the Mayor, on behalf of the society, presented a gift to each of the soldiers and wished them God speed and the best of luck. The guests-of-honour were: — Messrs C. K. Lockyer, A. Denholm, J. McPherson, K. McPherson, W. Taylor, W. Stapleton, M. Tarawhiti, R. Tarawhiti, I. King, J. Bryant, J. C. Gunton, E. R. Percy, T. Patton, Nicholls, W. Stayte, V. Shaw, B. Cowan, G. Thicker, Murphy, W. BEichanan, H. Addison, P. Burke, V. C. Maloney, J. Smith, J. F. A. Belcher, M. B. McGregor, White?, G. Caldwell, W. Harlock. Enjoyable music was provided by Mr J. Bogie’s orchestra, and Mr R. Dowd was a capable master of ceremonies. Novelty dances were won by Private W. Stapleton and Miss D. Alder, and Miss Molly Gavin and Mr J. Hvighes. The successful euchre players were Mrs W. Smith and Mr James Hall. ENJOYABLE “AT HOME” An enjoyable “at home” in aid of the Presbyterian Church funds was held at the home of Mrs R. Shand, Huntly, recently. Competitions were won by Mrs C. Craig, Mrs H. Gavin junr., Mrs Mills, and Mrs E. Hutchinson. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames R. Shand, J. Tait, J. Bogie, and J. Elms. Those present were:—Mesdames R. Shand, W. P. Rankin, G. A.
