PRESENTATION DANCE
SOLDIER FAREWELLED Eager to show their appreciation to a member of the third echelon, home on final leave, the people of Whatawhata were present in large numbers at the local hall on Thursday night, when the Patriotic Committee arranged a farewell euchre and dance in honour of Private Frank Turner. Mr S. G. Russell, on behalf of all present, in farewelling Private Turner asked him to accept an inscribed fountain pen. He is the third member of the Turner family to enlist for active service. Private Turner suitably replied. Music for dancing was supplied by Mrs J. Wright and Mr F. Sperry. Winners of the euchre were Mrs F. Jones, Mrs A. Moore, Mr A. Welch and Mr J. T. Kempthorne. A novelty dance was won by Miss T. King and Mr W. King. Among those present were: —Mesdames A. C. Turner, A. Rowe, K. Johnstone, J. R. Higginson, H. Wills, C. Yeoman, I. Parsons, L. C. Johnstone, F.
