SCHOOLS INSPECTED

MINISTER AT ROTORUA (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) ROTORUA, Friday Brief inspections of several schools in the vicinity of Rotorua were made today by the Minister of Education, j the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, on the occasion of his first visit to the district in that capacity. At the Rotorua primary school, representations were made to the Minister regarding the need for more playground space and for additions to the infant department. Mr Mason expressed sympathy especially with the former request, but stated that more urgent needs existed in other schools. The Minister inspected the new native school building in course of erection at Whakarewarewa, and after a short visit to the State timber mill went on to the Horo Horo native settlement, where he opened a classroom that has been added to the school. The Minister left in the evening en route to Raglan, and will open additions to the secondary school there tomorrow.
