GORDONTON NEWS

COMBINED FUNCTION Combined with the dance organised by the Young People’s Club, a farewell evening was tendered to the two local men of the third echelon in the Gordonton Hall last Tuesday evening. The function was largelv attended, and a gay and happy spirit prevailed. Dance music was supplied by Mrs Tarplett’s orchestra from Ngaruawahia. Mr H. Lister was master of ceremonies. In presenting Corporal D. Barry and Private W. O’Hearn with eversharp pencils, Mr S. Williamson wished the guests-of-honour the best of luck and on behalf of the local branch of the Red Cross Society, the president, Mrs D. S. Riddell, presented them with handknitted pullovers. Corporal D. Barry suitably replied.
