In its representative match with Taihape, Hamilton thoroughly deserved its win by five goals to one. The game was a fast and open one, Perrett scoring first for Hamilton within the first seven minutes. Ten minutes later Taihape equalised from a melee in front of the goal. The home team’s method of play

was in contrast to that of the visitors, Taihape hitting hard and swinging the ball from wing to wing with Hamilton, on the other hand, concentrating on short passing among the forwards. Hamilton’s halves blocked very cleanly, but hard hitting in enemy territory threw away several chances. Hamilton did better in the second half. Hoff, who had missed several openings in the first half, scored within a few minutes. Assisted by Perrett and Powdrill, this player secured three more goals. Taihape lacked combination in the forwards, but the left back and halves played very well. However, speculation frequently spoilt their efforts.
