SOLDIERS HONOURED

KAIPAKI FAREWELL KAIPAKI, Friday The Kaipaki Hall was taxed to its utmost on Thursday night, when more than 200 residents and friends gathered to farewell lour members of the first echelon. They were W. Y. Ganiev. Divisional Ammunition Company; W. Higgins, Division Ammunition Company; Ronald Bines and Leslie Henderson. A patriotic atmosphere was given by the decorations, which were carried out in red, white and blue, with flowers to blend, and a large Union Jack on the back wall of the stage. During an interval in the dancing, community singing and items, Mr A E. McDonald presented each soldier with an inscribed fountain pen, and wished him a safe and early return to New Zealand. Mr R. Boyd spoke on behalf of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, and Mr Bones replied for the guests ot honour. *
