FANCY DRESS PARTY

OKOROIUE RAILWAY SCHOOL Unqualified success attended the annual fancy dress party held recently in the Okoroire Railway School. Organised by the teacher, Miss Margaret Oram, and members of the school committee, the function was very enjoyable. A grand march was held, the children presenting a gay and charming scene in their colourful costumes. The school was beautifully decorated for the occasion with multi-coloured streamers and balloons and a Christmas tree laden with gifts held pride of place. Mr T. Macken, speaking on behalf of the school committee, congratulated Miss Oram on the high standard of the children’s items, and thanked the many helpers for their | co-operation. The presentation of handsome brass book-ends was made to Miss Oram, who is shortly to be married. A presentation was also made to Mr Norman Langlands. The latter part of the evening was spent in modern and old-time dancing for the adults. Children in fancy dress were:— r. Mackeri, Gipsy; Valerie Chubb, Peasant; Ruth Main.
