GIFTS FOR SOLDIERS
MEN AT HOPU HOPU CAMP EXCURSION TO RAGLAN Consequent on the recent approval of the South Auckland Zone Patriotic Committee, eight cases and one parcel containing Christmas puddings and gifts for the men in camp were forwarded to Hopu Hopu yesterday. Of the packages despatched, three came from Thames, two each from Matamata and Taupo, one from Paeroa and one from Hamilton and Huntly combined. At the request of the Patriotic Committee, Messrs Buses Ltd. have agreed to run buses on Christmas Day to take about 25 men from Hopu Hopu to Raglan for the day. The men will travel on the buses free of charge. On December 29 further gifts will be received by the men at Hopu Hopu when the Patriotic Committee will forward 1000 parcels of fruit and 1000 tins of cigarettes.
